Few Good Men, A (1992)

IMDB rating: 7.50

Plot: In this dramatic courtroom thriller, Lt. Daniel Kaffee (Tom Cruise), a Navy lawyer who has never seen the inside of the courtroom, defends two stubborn Marines (Wolfgang Bodison and James Marshall) who have been accused of murdering a colleague. He (Cruise) is known as being lazy and had arranged for a plea bargain. Downey’s (Marshall) Aunt Ginny appoints Cmdr. Galloway (Demi Moore) to represent him. Also on the legal staff is Lt. Sam Weinberg (Kevin Pollak). The team rounds up many facts and Kaffee is discovering that he is really cut out for trial work. The defense is originally based upon the fact that PFC Santiago, the victim, was given a “CODE RED”. Santiago was basically a screw-up. At Gitmo, screw-ups aren’t tolerated. Especially by Col. Nathan Jessup (Jack Nicholson). In Cuba, Jessup and two senior officers (J.T. Walsh and Kiefer Sutherland) try to give all the help they can, but Kaffee knows something’s fishy. In the conclusion of the film, the fireworks are set off by a confrontation between Jessup and Kaffee.

In the movie a Few Good Men: What was Demi's character Jo Galloway like? Was she strong? Tomboyish? ?
I have to potray her in an upcoming drama play my school is doing and I haven’t seen the movie but I have read quotes from the movie but I still don’t know what she is like.

passionate, idealistic but inexperienced in actually trying cases and lacking in common sense. She’s so idealistic that she can’t make cold, hard, practical decisions. At the beginning, the commander is deciding whether to give her the case and the associates talking about her say she’s good at her job in internal affairs ("She can crawl up a lawyer’s ass with the best of them." I think that’s the quote.) During the movie they say she handled two cases in two years, which means she handled EVERY case like it do or die.

As far as demeanor, she wasn’t tomboyish. Though she had short hair and wasn’t overly feminine, she didn’t act masculine. She’s sharp talking and doesn’t act like she’ll put up with any crap UNTIL someone confronts her on her inexperience or impracticality. Then, she would seem a little less sure of herself. She’s like an idealist who can’t get her ideas across. She holds her beliefs dearly but is frustrated with herself for not being about to fight effectively for them.

She is a trained naval officer expecting, yet not totally demanding respect from her subordinates. Cruise is an arrogant lawyer type, who in real life, would be subject to ‘ office hours ‘ because of his insubordinate response to this woman.

Bravely, she keeps her cool when she could really rattle his cage, and demand that he call her maa’m and respect her rank.
