It's estimated that Hitler murdered 17 million people; and 6 million were Jews. Who were the other 11 million?
Within three years, Germany and the Axis powers had occupied most of Europe, and most of Northern Africa, East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific Ocean. However, with the reversal of the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union, the Allies gained the upper hand from 1942 onwards. By 1945, Allied armies had invaded German-held Europe from all sides. Nazi forces engaged in numerous violent acts during the war, including the systematic murder of as many as 17 million civilians, an estimated six million of whom were Jews targeted in a genocide known as the Holocaust. However, if 6 million of the 17 million muredered were Jews, then who were the other 11 million people? It seems that historians and the world has forgotten about them; because the Hitler’s reign is mostly associated with the the attempted exterimination of the Jews; and people never mention the other 11 million people. I’ve been trying to find statistical data on the subject; but, I have been unable to find any information about who the other 11 million people were. Please help.
I completely agree with you, no one talks about the majority of the people who were killed in the Holocaust. It’s not because historians have forgotten about them, it has to do with politics.
This is the same question the Iranian leader had posed to the U.S., and everyone became ballistic, and ironically called him an antisemit, which obviously isn’t the case unless he is a self hating semitic person. ( the media did that for it’s own political purposes as well). some cruel world we live in. :/
Anyways, the other 11 million people who were displaced/killed ; were Muslims, Asians, French, of African background, gypsies, homosexuals, Communists, freemasons, Slavic people, criminals, disabled, mixed race off springs,Western Sympathizers( anyone who listened or used western products) couples of interracial marriage, He also killed most of the Polish population (which could be the majority of the 11 million).

Though 6 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust. The large sum of 11 million that you were talking about consisted of the following: Jehovah’s witness, Communists, Trade unionists, Disabled mentally and physically, people who housed Jews, Catholics, gypsies, non Arin’s( Didn’t have blonde hair and blue eyes) and then lead to pretty much anyone who tried to screw with him or say what he was doing was wrong such as all the Ally forces; France, Britain, Poland, USA, Canada etc.

A lot of the number you’ve used included Soviet citizens caught behind the lines of the German advance. Nobody knows how many there were. Probably it’s a bit of a stretch to attribute those deaths directly to Hitler, and even attributing them to Germans might be pushing things. When Stalin pushed the Germans into retreat he did a lot of mass killing of Soviet citizens who’d managed to survive the Germans. Distinguishing which were victims of Hitler, which Stalin is problematic.

I haven’t heard the 17 million figure, closer to 15 million total, 6 million Jews, 6 million Poles and Slavs, and 3 million gypsies, communists, catholic clergy, disabled, mentally retarded, homosexual, German dissidents and intellectuals. Of course, Stalin killed a few million of his own people in the purges at the start of the war, maybe that’s where the additional 2 million dead in your question came from.
Here’s website with the total military and Civilian deaths of WWII listed – about 34 million but that includes the 10 million killed by the Japanese in China:
http://www.hitler.org/ww2-deaths.html
The figures are listed by country not religion, or other reason for death – so you might want to check the entire site for further info: http://www.hitler.org/

Have you been to a concentration camp like Dachau? There are boards and boards of information about all of the different groups, the numbers killed, whether it was systematic and intentional or part of war. There’s a room where it’s all by nationality. The Czechs killed, the Poles, the Russians, the Hungarians…. Another by profession. Another by targeted groups such as the Sinti. And every now and then you’ll find a board about Jews killed at the camp or transported elsewhere.
The information is out there. It’s not hard to find.
They are most certainly not forgotten.
Try again.

I have to be honest and say that I haven’t heard the 17 million figure before; I have heard 11 million which consisted of 6 million Jews,21 thousand gypsies and the rest of the victims were made up of the mentally and or physically disabled, communists, homosexuals,J Witnesses and any one else considered an enemy of the Reich.
I reported the answer from Modest Prince who believes the holocaust to be a hoax and I suggest that he repeat his sentiments in the presence of holocaust survivors or in the presence of those (still alive) who helped to liberate the camps.
I also notice that he doesn’t deny the persecution of the other victims, only the Jews.

I actually thought the estimated figure was eleven million, not 17. I understand that Slavs were the next biggest group, and there were also gypsies, homosexuals, communists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the mentally and physically handicapped, anyone who was suspected of not sympathising with the Nazis, etc.
I am not sure where the figure of 17 million came from. This is not one that I have heard before.
Cale’s answer, in which he says that people were killed for not being blonde and blue-eyed is incorrect. Being blonde and blue-eyed were not the qualifications fo rmaking you Aryan. Jews can be blonde and blue eyed, and ARyans can be dark.
